While I am on a roll to bring you everything in JB, here is another one. I realized that more trips need to be in order because one thing's for sure. The whole cafe / dining scene in JB is rippling hot! And there are so many places to try, so little time. Here, I picked up a little fresh dessert cafe that popped up just a few months ago, Shakespeare Milkshakes. This cafe took over the space that was By Grace, Trus, the little corner that's sandwiched between Jalan Dhoby and Jalan Tan Hiok Nee.
The team at Shakespeare's was reserved and sweet, with efficient service to deliver orders.
Being a dessert cafe, they serve coffees, hot chocolates, teas, soft serves, yogurts, croffles, waffles and of course, their signature milkshakes. Shakespeare's is not as gimmicky as their neighbours. After having their milkshakes and yogurts, it is obvious they have a serious heart at making delicious desserts without trying too hard.
Their Specialty Shakes (ah-hem, instagrammable) go at RM 16, which includes Kinder Bueno Shakes, Banana Tower, Snickers Shakes, Berries Sparkles, Avocado Power and Matcha Adzuki. We took on the Matcha Adzuki because I love all things matcha (!!!). Look at it, isn't it pretty? It is super refreshing, thick and milky. The matcha taste kind of 'floats' in the background, and having the tried and tested winning combination of sweet and soft azuki beans makes it a perfect dessert drink on a hot day. The best part is that it isn't too sweet. The snowflake cookies at the top is savoury and a little strange to taste, but well, it does make the whole thing look sassier.
Caramel Granola Yogurt |
Nutella Banana Yogurt |
For their yogurts, they do Caramel Granola and Nutella Banana, each of which goes at RM10. I'll say this straight - it's better than llaollao. Their yogurt tends to be a bit sourish rather than sweet, but it's still the 'mainstream' acceptable sort of taste rather than natural yogurt. Nutella sauce drizzling over yogurt is definitely a safe choice, but I preferred the wild caramel granola one for its salted accents. I was certain it was Salted Caramel (as opposed to just caramel), and it was a jolt to the senses. In a good way. Go for the caramel one!
If you'd like, you can even take the outdoor seats.
And face a construction site and pretend you're in Paris.
They are closed on Wednesdays, though.
