Favourite child on Johnston Street. Up and rising, hit up this cafe before queues get longer.

Sir Charles - Melbourne's Cafes

Sir Charles is a sparkling new cafe, the most conspicuous and attractive one on the entire street because of its massive spaces and open-kitchen concept. Another thing to note: their tall glass windows let in a lot of natural sunlight, making it ideal for food photography. Lunch place? Sounds like a plan.

Can I just say: I am totally digging their minimalist, white/grey/wood combination... what's more, the aroma of coffee was wafting all around, even onto the streets. Oh yes, I'm in the right zone alright. It's good strategy to score brownie points even before their food is served. I scan through the menu. It doesn't seem like a regular brunch place. Most of the items on it had very spangling oriental touches to it - with keywords like coconut, mango, kimchi, wasabi, tempura tofu. But I am hungry. I need something more substantial. My eyes lit up when I caught sight of something called the Wagyu Beef Burger. Perfect. It was every inch of goodness, with fat chunks of wagyu sandwiched between toasted butter bread. The tangy zests from tomatoes and cucumber helped break the taste when it got a bit heavy. I finished it all up, and got on my way. It was a good day.
