Travelogue for my Abu Dhabi - Dubai trip, let's go! Some background of my holiday during CNY this year, I was doing some visiting for two weeks in the area so it does not take on the usual rhythm of my intense 'Singaporean' style of hitting up all the usual touristy places with full day itineraries. But I must say I have experienced a lot of ABDB and DB, so much so I think I will take a few posts (this might be a gross understatement) before I can completely show you my trip's adventures!
On direct flight tickets to Dubai / Abu Dhabi from Singapore
Emirates, Etihad Aiways, Jet Airways, Qantas or Singapore Airlines take this route.
I use Skyscanner to check my prices for my trips usually but book direct on the airline website after you sieved out the cheapest. Due to ticket prices, I flew in from Singapore to Dubai rather than Abu Dhabi. A return flight ticket (SIN-DXB/ABDB) should set you back around SGD700, any lesser you've gotten yourself a really good deal.
Currency
1 SGD = 2.5 AED (dirhams)
Flight on Singapore Airlines, the cheapest among all servicing airlines.
Getting from Dubai to Abu Dhabi
I got straight from Dubai to Abu Dhabi the moment I landed, but of course you could tour Dubai first and reference this method when you want to get to Abu Dhabi from Dubai.
Method 1 - From Ibn Battuta
1. From Dubai Airport, I took the metro down to Ibn Battuta Metro station. This is about an hour metro ride. The Dubai metro is extremely new then and looks like it just unwrapped itself. There is even a women's only carriage.
2. Then, find your way to the Ibn Battuta Bus Station right next to the metro station. Just exit the station, it is right in front of you where the buses gather. Look out for E100. It costs 25 dirhams (~SGD10) one way. The last bus is said to be 11pm, and I took the second last one at 10.40pm. It takes about 1.5 hours to reach Al Wahda Bus Station of Abu Dhabi.
Method 2 - From Al Ghubaiba Bus Station
1. You can also catch a bus from the bus station next to Al Ghubaiba Metro station but I did not use this route so I cannot tell you exactly what it looks like. You should also end up at Al Wahda Bus Station of Abu Dhabi, for a journey of slightly more than 2 hours.
Method 3 - Taxi
Grab a taxi, it will cost between AED250-280 (~SGD100-110) one way. It isn't the most value-for-money way, obviously, but if you are in a rush to the airport / have lots of luggage / is with someone else, this is the recommended way.
