I miss you so.
I am tired. I am tired of having my feet stepped onto in the trains with no apologies, having to say thank-yous to service staff and being stared coldly. I am tired of having to wait for cars to zoom pass me at zebra crossings and green lights (the last I checked, pedestrians have the right of way). Music, dramas, blasting from their electronic devices. No explanation, no consideration. Each fighting for one's own interests. "Your gain is my loss," yells my fellow Singaporean. "No one owes you a living," another says. My ears fail me, but my heart felt it, loud and strong. Selfishness has become a Singaporean trait. I look for signs to disprove it. Is that true? I hate to believe it, but reality keeps telling me it is. I miss you, Singapore. I really do.
